Originally from Germany, Irene Wunderlich is a mother of two children and has been living in Ireland for the past 20 years.

As an artist, woodcarver and wood sculptor, Irene has designed and carved furniture and sculpted wood for over 25 years.

Trained in humanistic integrative psychotherapy, she works in community settings as an artist, therapeutic companion and woodcarving teacher.

"I enjoy the physical side of carving wood - unless it gives me a backache," says Irene, "following my imagination, training in patience and endurance around knots and cracks - the close relationship to wood as I carve."

Irene feels that there is a sacredness in Art and a deep communication. Wood is natural which says it all!

"I love being in company of other budding carvers.

We inspire each other and there is always so much to learn".

Presently Irene teaches Wood Carving and Wood Sculpting from her studio in Cork.
